RF Switching or Wired Connection to the Immersion for Solar PV Heating
Some of our clients were asking about the possibility of using an RF switch together with the solar PV heating switch – It looks very straight forward, simple to use when compared with a wired connection.
But we recommend to use the existing immersion wiring running from the consumer unit via an MCB for safety. It makes the whole system stable, secure and simple. You could also forget about replacing the batteries on the RF units . If the batteries run out on these units, either the immersion will never turn on or may remain turned on for ever ending up with a huge electricity bill. Poorly designed cheap RF switching units could interfere with other electronic units resulting in weird behaviour costing you money.
All our switches are designed to use the existing immersion wiring and to be installed near the consumer unit itself – So you could easily get access to the immersion wiring and the incoming grid lines to clip the sensor on. That makes a neat install with a single unit managing the immersion heater with the safety of the inline MCB.
